Janice MacLeod’s Paris Year

“This travel journal is a replication of my original notebooks,” says Janice MacLeod in the introduction to her new book “A Paris Year, my day-to-day adventures in the most romantic city in the world.” “It is a memoir, a guidebook and ode to ma belle Paris.”

MacLeod’s book is a breezey and pleasant read illustrated by the authors copious colorful drawings and photos. Using a French style agenda diary format it feels somewhere between a blog on paper and an artist’s book. “A Paris Year” chronicles her sojourn in the City of Light through observations and anecdotes with stories and facts about famous figures in Parisian history.

On St. Theophane Day (February 2nd) she notes “La vie est faite de petits bonheurs” (Life is full of small pleasures). This book is certainly one of them. Would make a nice gift for the Francophile on your holiday list.
